Just one race at Gowran tickles my fancy and I’m hopeful of a big run from this seven year old gelding
This one may escape the market leaders as is trained by a small trainer called Sean O’Brien, however, has done very well this season in all races.
A very strong traveller, fell in its first beginners chase at Cork over 21f and was travelling and jumping well until falling six out. A very impressive winner over 16f at Clonmel in a beginners chase (beat future winners Monatomic and Poker Party), showing a lovely turn of foot.
Beaten at Limerick in a novice chase at Christmas by Redhotfillypeppers over 17.5f (the third horse, Reach Up, has subsequently scored easily). Badly impeded 2 out and bad mistake at the last, easily forgiven.
A fortunate winner of a rated novice chase at Fairyhouse a few weeks back over 20f (The third horse, Stowaway Forever, has boosted the form twice since).
The return to 17f at Leopardstown the last day (off 127) did not suit this strong travelling type, however, ran a more then satisfactory race, beaten just 4 lengths into 4th spot behind Quomino in a very valuable Grade B handicap chase.
Today’s trip of 2 miles 2 furlongs is just about perfect, the rise in the weights of a just a pound is more then fair and off today’s new mark of 128, the ease in underfoot conditions should pose no serious problems as won a maiden hurdle on heavy ground in March last year.
Donagh Meyler, a Kilkenny native, is a serious pilot and I feel only a matter of time before he becomes one of the Big 5 jockey’s in Ireland. A fair racing weight of 10-7, this one should hopefully go close here.
0.5pt win R’Evelyn Pleasure @ 7-1 (BV,Hills)
