Today’s Ratings and Market Movers 05/06/19

Still getting over yesterday and I feel like one of those plates I spin on a daily basis!

It has stopped raining!

I took the dogs for their 10-00pm walk and got soaked. It had been raining non-stop for most of the day….certainly all afternoon/evening and, whilst it did the garden the world of good, it stopped me dead in my tracks with regards rating races.

When I finally got to park my backside in the office chair yesterday, I checked the BHA website, looking at the weather forecast for each track hosting racing, and put together the newsletter you received last night.

I’d not have been producing figures for the lunchtime meeting at Nottingham (yet….we’ll have to see if I can introduce another couple of hours into what already feels like a 28 hour day), and as I eluded to last night, with rain hitting most places the only track suitable for Rating (until I have precise going updates later this morning), is Newton Abbot. Just one Rated race.

I checked all the meetings for Market Movers at around 10-45pm and found just four from Nottingham….punters are most certainly keeping their powder dry until they also know what’s underfoot and it’s simply common sense.

You’ve seen how the results changed in our favour once the sun came out, earlier last month and I’m still kicking myself for not pulling the plug one day earlier than I did in May, as the AG “Profit/Loss to Date” would have been about £300 more than the current £1334.14.

So, below you have that lone Rated race and four MM’s from Nottingham. I’ll be looking out for a going report from Ripon and if I’m happy we can bet there this evening, I’ll get figures out to you this afternoon.

I’m in my office all day today, save for the hour between 9-00am – 10-00am when I’ll be on the beach throwing a ball. If you need me for anything, just holler!

Have a great day!

Kindest regards

Ron

NOTES: My top rated is a Newton Abbot “specialist” and everything….bar one thing….is spot on today.

He has never yet won out in a Class higher than three and today, it’s a two. He’s now a 12 year old and will not be getting any faster and, he’s a genuine good ground horse. He is also up 8lb for his 25/1 win here three weeks back.

The weather suggests a 60% chance of rain down there so, whilst what I have produced figures for in terms of ground, still exists, the potential is there for a going change.

I will be waiting until the last 30 minutes before betting here and will make sure I’m happy with the ground before placing any bets.

PANKO ideally needs to hear his feet rattle off the ground so if it does rain and we do get slower ground, I’d be dropping him from my own play. His last eight wins have come on good, or good to firm so, perfect conditions as I type. His trainer has only sent two horses to this track in the last five years….both won.

All a bit messy but we’ll see how we go with the weather.
