Today’s Ratings and Market Movers 16/06/19

That was worth waiting for, I’d suggest.

Nine Rated races, seven of which produced profit and Hexham again proving to be a real hot spot for summer Ratings.

That is now 15 races rated from that track, we have had 12 winners, and two to the other three races produced runners up.

The profits were again produced and the screenshot again made for excellent reading:

This is now the full record for June:

June 1st – +£211.97
June 2nd – +£37.22
June 3rd – +£31.46
June 4th – +£139.60
June 5th – +£91.60
June 6th – +£245.52

TOTAL TO JUNE 6TH = +£757.37

June 7th – -£308.62
June 8th – NO BETTING
June 9th – +£117.42
June 10th – +£88.06
June 11th – +£50.93
June 12th – -£19.63
June 13th – +£68.24

TOTAL FOR JUNE TO 13TH = +£753.77

June 14th – +£39.41
June 15th – +£125.83

TOTAL FOR THE FIRST HALF OF JUNE = +£919.01

TOTAL PROFIT FOR THE SEASON TO DATE (SINCE MAY 4TH) = +£1914.32

I have highlighted that one day (June 7th), we should not have been betting. I was not in a position to advise you bin the lot.

It was the first day those rains started falling, they compromised the figures and that was the result.

Yesterday was the first day we have had, when we could work with confidence and these were the results:

SANDOWN 2-35  – 5f  (5f10y) randox.com Handicap (Jockey Club Grassroots Flat Sprint Series Qualifier)  (Class 4) (4yo+ 0-80)

NOTES:

REVIEW: Two of the top three rated coming home first and second. The sun was shining down there, we had no potential for a going change and we obtained the right result.

NOTES:

REVIEW: I was pretty confident we’d do good work here. I mentioned in the morning Newsletter that I was half inclined to bin this meeting but that the figures “felt” right….and they most definitely were. The Market Movers also highlighted this one and when they are in Rated races, they really are performing very well.

CHESTER 5-30  – 1m4½f  (1m4f63y) Crabbie Whisky Handicap  (Class 4) (4yo+ 0-85)

PERCEIVED DRAW BIAS – NONE

ASCOT DAY (BF)….-36
T – MERCER’S TROOP….-40
AL KOUT….-40
W2H – LADY NATASHA….-40

NOTES:

REVIEW: We came so close to a full house of Rated races producing profit from this track yesterday and but for the fact MARENGO is simply so difficult to win with, we would have signed off this meeting with a lovely winner in a dutch.

He shot clear but even when he did do, I knew what he’d do. His head came back and up, and he waited for something to come and get him….which it did.

He last won a race in 2016….and that’s why.

The figures were spot on, my top six rated horses were the first six home and whilst frustrating, sitting where I was it still made for great reading.

HEXHAM 2-15 – 1m7½f  (1m7f133y) Marie Curie Handicap Chase  (Class 5) (5yo+ 0-100)

PERCEIVED DRAW BIAS – N/A

* – SLEEP IN FIRST….+8
RINGARINGAROSIE….-13 – WON 7/2
KITTY FISHER….-15 – 2ND 4/1
MAKE IT HAPPEN….-15
MISS AMELIA (BF)….-17
* – DUHALLOWCOUNTRY….-18
BLACK KETTLE….-40
ROLL OF THUNDER….-40
PADS (Hc1)….-40

NOTES:

REVIEW: I really didn’t expect my top Rated to produce that figure yesterday as he’s now very long in the tooth and when they quickened he simply couldn’t go with them. He did run on through the field at the end to finish fifth but that was all academic anyway as my pair underneath him came home first and second, landing the profits.

HEXHAM 3-55  – 2m4f  (2m4f28y) Hadrian Healthcare Handicap Hurdle  (Class 3) (4yo+ 0-140)

PERCEIVED DRAW BIAS – N/A

* – ONLY ORSENFOOLSIES….-4 – WON 7/4
LORD WISHES….-13 – NR
T – LOMANCHENKO (Hc1)….-33
* – ALTRUISM….-39
* – CAIRNSHILL….-40
TH – BLACK KETTLE….-40

NOTES:

REVIEW: With the withdrawal of LORD WISHES we had a horse miles clear on my figures and he duly strung them out all over the county.

HEXHAM 5-05  – 3m  (3m41y) Pola Minerals Handicap Chase  (Class 5) (5yo+ 0-100)

PERCEIVED DRAW BIAS – N/A

LOWANBEHOLD….+8 – 3RD
PRINCE DUNDEE (BF)….+8 – 2ND
LAWTOP LEGEND (Hc1)….±0 – 4TH
DUTCH CANYON….-40 – WON 7/2
DULCE PANEM….-40
H – THE CONN….-40

NOTES:

REVIEW: The value of a market Mover amply demonstrated here. I’m not sure what goes on in a horses head but this winner was next to useless before the Coltherd’s got hold of him and he had placed in just five of his previous 30 starts under rules.

Nick Alexander got rid of him in May, his new trainer put him in a maiden PTP and he won by 15 lengths….at this track.

So, yesterday they run him under rules again, same track, and the money is down. Leads from start to finish and never really looked like getting passed by the runner up, who himself but nearly 20 lengths between him and the third placed horse.

I was happy though!

HEXHAM 5-40  – 2m  (2m48y) Union Rooms Handicap Hurdle (Qualifier For The Northern Lights Two Mile Hurdle Series)  (Class 4) (4yo+ 0-110)

PERCEIVED DRAW BIAS – N/A

T* – BIRCH VALE….+3 – WON 6/4
STARPLEX….-8
T* – WAZOWSKI (BF)….-9 – NR
* – THINK AHEAD….-35
FADING ICON….-40
BOBNDAVE….-40
SOME AMBITION (Hc1)….-40

NOTES:

REVIEW: Always nice to finish with  top rated winner. Puts a cherry on the cake.

TODAY

A lot quieter, just two Rated races from Doncaster and five Market Movers from the two tracks hosting flat racing.

My job today is to finalise everything regarding Royal Ascot, send out a final reminder to those that might like to access the Royal Ascot Special and then send hairdryers down to Berkshire to dry that place out!

Right now they have drying ground, very little by way of rain coming and the CoC is seemingly as confident as he can be that we’ll have good ground on day one.

That’ll do for starters and as the week goes along, we should see the ground just as we want it.

Have a great day!

Kindest regards

Ron

TODAY’S RATINGS AND ADVICE

MARKET MOVERS IN RATED RACES HIGHLIGHTED

DONCASTER 2-10 – 1m  (7f213y) (Rnd) Lottie Caborn Lakeside Lucky Winner Handicap  (Class 4) (4yo+ 0-85)

PERCEIVED DRAW BIAS – NONE

ASTONISHED….-2
* – LONDON PROTOCOL….-5
W2T – WUFUD….-8
* – STORM AHEAD….-19
HAMMER GUN….-20
MM* – INTENSE STYLE….-21
DUBAI ACCLAIM….-38
H – WATHEER….-40

NOTES: INTENSE STYLE has been attracting money since the market opened last night. I had noted 8/1 > 6/1 when I shut down my computers last night and the horse now trades 11/2.

LONDON PROTOCOL has conditions right, he’s handicapped to win races again but it could well be he’s lost the plot. The market suggests he will not be winning today, a drifter overnight 10/1 > 14/1

DONCASTER 3-55 – 5f  (5f3y) Lakeside Village Outlet Shopping Doncaster Handicap  (Class 3) (3yo+ 0-95)

PERCEIVED DRAW BIAS – NONE

H* – STORM OVER….+2
* – ERISSIMUS MAXIMUS….-18
* – CAMACHO CHIEF….-25
* – DUKE OF FIRENZE….-27
CONSEQUENCES….-27
* – CONFESSIONAL….-32
FOOL FOR YOU….-36
BOWSON FRED….-40

NOTES: DUKE OF FIRENZE has won five of his last seven races by a neck or less and I’m not sure his running style is suited to small fields. Just one of his nine career wins has come in a field consisting of less than 11 runners.
