Today’s Ratings and Market Movers 18/06/19

Stacey put a right old shift in yesterday. She started on the databases at around 7-30am and finished around 9-00pm last night.

I told her, “welcome to my world!”.

Now we are on top of those, we should have no problem and she’ll come in, do her three hours, and leave me to get on with the job of finding profits from races.

Admin is the biggest “pain in the butt” (she is from Texas), and she felt my pain.

It needed doing though….it has, for about a year, been one of those things I dipped into from time to time but never completed because time was always the enemy.

She now has control of four of the plates I was spinning….brilliant!

I mentioned in the Newsletter last night why that losing race should have been a winning race. It was my fault entirely.

When the going rides on the slow side at certain tracks, the draw bias has to be recognised and my data indicated that here, as opposed to wanting that far rail as would usually be the case, we needed to be working with middle drawn runners….indicated by the § icon.

When you have horses drawn right, with winning form on the ground, then they should be looked at very closely.

Here those horses drawn middle had a definite advantage and I should have added a few words to this race, advising REDARNA, and not IM DAPPER TOO, be in the dutch.

There were five horses drawn exactly where I wanted them….and they finished 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th….I apologised to Andy and now you have my apologies, too.

Going back to this race, Andy called me to ask a question, that was asked of him by a couple of members.

“Why are we working with a Class 5 race of more than 10 runners?”

Simple….that only applies to NH racing. Any questions on why, please do get back to me.

TODAY

Here we go then.

It’s going to be days of long hours and on Friday night I’ll be ready for an Edradour. It will be a complete blur for me, I’ll be honest. I’ll most definitely need to sit back next Sunday and look at every race again.

Rated races will actually be few and far between by the looks of things. I have none at Royal Ascot today (I much prefer Profiled races for Festivals, anyway), and the four “off meetings” provide me with just two to work with…..one each from Thirsk and Stratford.

The problem we’ll have now is the 3-y-o’s being thrown in to all aged handicaps. They are impossible to rate and so I do not try.

I’m thinking this is where Market Movers will come into their own.

As long as we keep adding to the profits achieved so far then that’s all we can ask for.

I’m now looking at two other angles we can potentially work from and will introduce those from the start of the next NH season.

When we have The Clover Club up and running I’ll have at least three more folk on board doing things like running the Fantasy Horse Racing, managing the social side of things and….making coffee!

Have a great day!

Kindest regards

Ron
