Very messy yesterday and horses I fancied to be the mainstay of our dutch plays yesterday were getting withdrawn left, right and centre.
INFRASTRUCTURE, a Market Mover and the horse I fancied would give us a winner in the rated race at Newbury was pulled out, and the 3-y-o that was in my top three gets done a short head.
I fancied ROBIN DES PEOPLE would improve again for his last run, well fancied….bites it’s tongue at the start and gets pulled.
My top rated in the first race at Newton Abbot gets pulled and we end up with a five runner race, which I never work with.
So, we relied on the Market Movers and that 9-00pm race to save our bacon and we nailed the 12/1winner, producing us a profit on the day.
Andy and I had been discussing very early how “tricky” it looked yesterday and it was certainly not made any easier by those non-runners.
Today is even more “tricky”….Andy pointed out last night that this seems to be the “Word of the Week”….and it is.
I have three Rated races at Carlisle that are ultra competitive and I do not like working with 17 runner handicaps, more than half the field coming from just three yards….that is the Carlisle Bell at 3-30pm.
It is an extremely busy day for us and as the ground now starts to dry out, this is how it will be.
I’ve another four meetings to work with tomorrow and I’ve already started on them.
Fingers crossed we get past that £3k profit figure today but my guts are telling me it’ll be the Market Movers and Salisbury where the profit comes from.
Have a great day!
