On the racing front today, the only thing catching my eye is how bad it is.
Thirsk really has pushed the boat out for bad horses and has now fewer than five of them on its eight race card. One drum I’ve been banging all season is just how many bad horses are in training right now and the majority of double figure field races are, Class 6.
They have 66 horses of that Class on show today whilst Brighton has a mere 41.
If I were betting today….which I’m not (save for one horse I mentioned In and evening update that went out last night), then the last two races on the Brighton card could see punters rewarded with a profit from a little e.w. double:
DE LITTLE ENGINE (4-10)
BIG TIME MAYBE (4-40)
Personally, I’ll just watch but both are course and distance winners, both ridden by jockeys we’ll hear a lot more about next season and, riding for trainers both have superb strike rates for, at this track.
Yesterday we saw a horse winning a Group 1 by nine lengths and when I see such a thing, I’m immediately dubious of the form. However, PINATUBO was….and has been previously….mighty impressive and if he trains on, the 6/4 for the 2000Gns next season looks like Christmas has come early. Unless we have another FRANKEL still to be seen this season (and this horse now has achieved a higher RPR than that one), then he’s the real deal and we should all fill our boots.
We had no winners again at the weekend so it’s another Euromillions ticket being purchased for those that played….Friday’s draw.
NEWCASTLE V BRIGHTON
BRISTOL CITY V SWANSEA
READING V BLACKBURN
DONCASTER V PETERBOROUGH
PORT VALE V MANSFIELD
The are the games I have chosen for the coming weekend. I will get the Competition thread up on the Forum later today but you have plenty of time to study those games and put your name up in lights by correctly predicting the results of all five….home, away, or draw….how hard could it be?
I keep telling you this guy is the best in the business and last weekend he produced six bets, three winners 11/2, 23/10 and 19/10…..came mighty close to a lovely 11/1 winner too and had Everton not been so sloppy with regards that third goal they conceded, he would have done!
He produces his work for nothing, won’t let me charge a fee on his behalf and has no intention of ever trying to operate his own website again. What I have done is set up what I’ve called a BEER BUTTON on the home page of the postracing.co.uk website.
If you fancy buying the bloke a pint, just select how much you’d like to send him….four options….£2, £3, £4 or £5….and I’ll send it on to him.
I was extremely busy with the racing over the weekend so could not get out the Newsletter regarding the Cheltenham Special for 2020….but I’ll make sure you have that tomorrow. I will not be increasing the subscription fee for that but what I will be doing is making sure you receive much more for your money. Full details in that Newsletter.
We have racing from three tracks but as usual, I’ll not be producing figures for Yarmouth.
I have the kind of race I enjoy working on at Chepstow….a handicap with not a single 3-y-o in sight.
I have also decided I’ll be running another months free trial of what I do, during October. It’s the month we change over from flat to NH racing and also the month I’ll be all over the country promoting The Clover Club.
I’ll let you know how to get involved….if you would like to….tomorrow.
Have a great day.
