Catching my eye

Another lovely 11/2 winner yesterday for this section.

Today we only have one meeting at Hamilton but one horse is most certainly an eye-catcher.

I notified my subscribed membership earlier this morning that a handicap debutante ART OF DIPLOMACY had opened at 12/1 last night but had been backed overnight to 4/1. I sent out my midmorning update about 30 minutes ago and that horse is now 5/2.

The trainer has 20% strike rate with 3-y-o’s at Hamilton but the fact he has booked Nathan Evans to ride is more significant. He has ridden six winners from 30 rides here for the trainer and a good few boxes have been ticked, including the fact he’s stepped up a quarter of a mile in trip, for handicap debut.

GUARDIA SVIZZERA is 2-3 at Hamilton over this distance, wins on good to soft, likes the trip and looks a bet if he can produce his best.

He has been a market mover on so many occasions this season and ran well in a seller recently but he’s obviously not a horse to be treated, as he keeps leaving the money behind. However two horses in recent days, with the same profile (AROUND THE ISLAND and GOLDEN APOLLO), have finally got their heads in front.

It’s a good competitive card but if I have a bet today, staking will be light.

Have a great day!
