Catching My Eye

A stunning day for the Market Movers yesterday, all four overnight “movers” at Newmarket winning and producing a 659/1 accumulator to SP.

The Ratings too were absolutely spot on and this winter looks set to be an absolute cracker.

I’ve seen several catching my eye today, despite the weather.

My subscribed members were told earlier that I really like the look of WHISKEY AND WATER, who had been punted from an opening 7/2 > 5/2….since they were advised, the horse has shortened again to 15/8.

My reasoning for this being a bet today read:

“A 3-y-o making handicap debut for Brian Ellison, that will be ridden for the first time today by Danny Cook.

Danny has ridden 11 times for Ellison here in the last five years and won on four of them (36% strike rate).

Everything points to a big….BIG….run.

The most significant thing is the weight for age allowance 3-y-o’s get from the older horses….17lb…..that’s a lot!

I’ve had a 20/80.”

Another I mentioned inn my mid-morning update….

“NORWEGIAN WOODS.

I mention it here because although it’s just a conditional jockeys event, low grade, this horse is being ridden by a bloke yet to rider a loser here for the trainer of the horse.

I checked the markets….now 7/1 > 9/2″

I do not normally get involved in such races….but here, I might make an exception….we’ll see how bad the ground is!

I’m very interested in the Uttoxeter 2-40pm event. My feeling is a few winners will come out of that one, as the season goes on.

The eye is drawn right away to FAMOUS RESPONSE but, I will be going 20/80 REBEL LEADER. When Harry Whittington legs up Gavin Sheehan on one of his, at this track, they are 3-4….a stunning 75% strike rate.

It’s a great shame I cannot get a handle on going conditions at this point because the racing today feels good and my work looks solid.

We’ll see how we get on.

Have a great day!
