Racing has been given a good hiding by the weather in recent days and with my not having time to produce a Catching My Eye of a Saturday, racing being washed out on Sunday, and no NH racing yesterday, and with the flat boys racing on winter ground, I decided to get busy on other things.
Again today, it’s all very strange. The flat racing, what is left of it, takes place on NH ground, and the racing at Hereford and Huntingdon takes place on flat racing ground.
It’s one at Hereford catching my eye most right now….PEGGIES VENTURE….4-10pm.
Hereford is a track I’m wary of because I still have not got enough empirical data to produce what I’d like but, for sure, what is plainly obvious is that Alan King and Wayne Hutchinson have wasted no time in rating up the winners here since they reopened.
Togther they have a superb 45% strike rate (5-11), and with a 35% strike rate all rides, nobody works this place better than Wayne Hutchinson.
Just one at Huntingdon catches my eye, too….MYSTIC COURT (3-50pm).
Daryl Jacobs comes for just two rides but it’s this one he is here for. The horse makes handicap debut today having won over course and distance in May.
He is up in grade for this but what draws me to him is the fact that Pauling and Jacobs have only worked together here on 14 previous occasions over the last five years and come away with four winners. They have produced a brilliant level £1 stake profit of £63.36
Of course, today is all about our horse, SAM I, who runs in the Hereford 5-15pm.
We have had to be very patient, having bought him as an unbroken 3-y-o from France, then finding he had an injury last September, that had caused his periodic lameness.
It is 580 days since he ran his only race to date for us and his schooling for today’s hurdling debut will tell us plenty.
As long as he gets home safe and sound, and enjoys the experience, we’ll have a had a result
Best of luck today!
