The Ladbrokes Trophy Profiling 28/11/20

My favourite race of the year and will be forever know to me as the Hennessey.

We want to be working with horses aged six, seven or eight and our first shortlist reads:

  • VINNDICATION
  • SECRET INVESTOR
  • KILDISART
  • COPPERHEAD
  • AYE RIGHT
  • MISTER MALARKY
  • TWO FOR GOLD
  • THE CONDITIONAL
  • DANNY WHIZZBANG
  • THE HOLLOW GINGE
  • POTTERMAN
  • ARDLETHEN
  • CLOTH CAP

Next we move on to weight ranges. We know that over the last 10 years 25 horses have tried to carry 11st 7lb or more to success but only seven have even placed but by far the most dominant weight range is 11st to 11st 6lb, with six winners and five placed horses from 37 runners across that same time period. I have found that in that decade 113 horses have carried less than 11st but have produced only four winners.

From that list then I’ll remove anything carrying more than 11st 6lb, and less than 11st:

  • KILDISART
  • COPPERHEAD
  • AYE RIGHT
  • MISTER MALARKY

A four horse dutch in such a race is more than feasible but I do like getting it down to a solo play.

Eight of the last 10 winners could be located in the front six on the tissue and of that quartet I can take two:

  • KILDISART
  • AYE RIGHT

It’s a shame we lose the two Tizzard horses at that point because he has trained two winners and four placed horses, from 13 runners, in the last 10 years.

The last five winners of this race arrived having had one run in that season, and arrived having won or placed and on that basis, KILDISART would be the one to work with if all you are looking for is a 20/80.

POST RACING PROFILE SELECTION – KILDISART 20/80

He is also my long term fancy for the 2021 Grand National. Currently around 33/1 for that race.

Best of luck!
